So what your saying is that itll hold the power from the turbo motor youre putting in right?!?!?!?!? biggrin.gif

HAHAHAHA I wish... nope this will hold up to more than 100RWHP since his current 110RWHP motor keeps blowing up these trannys and yes I meant 100 - 110 RWHP. lol low power making ass motor.

More work, saturday drilled out the center (top of pic), yesterday started milling the center (bottom of pic)

Today finished milling the center and getting fitment just right. Tapped one bolt hole only to make sure it'll work the way I want it too.

Lines up perfect, I had expected it to be 1/4-1/2" offset to clear one hole.

Note: the bottom center hole wont be used; only 6 points of attatchment for the bellhousing to adapter. But that's not a big deal, for instance the bellhousing is attatched to the engine with only 4 bolts...

Yeah, prolly a good idea.

Taking it down to the spec I want.

No pic as it sits, but I'm down to removing the end posts where the allens are.

To spec/width.

Re-dyed to mark pattern for t50, threaded holes & then remove excess around.

This pic just show how it clears everything it needs to.

Not shown: holes for adapter to trans have been countersunk for the hardware, and bellhousing pattern is drilled & tapped.

Got some more done today...

Bandsaw for the rough outline.

Then back to the milling machine for some finer tuned work.

And the plate portion is done.

Still one more part to come, which has to be done on the lathe - the pilot bearing spacer.

Didn't do much today, just used some measurements to design the pilot bearing spacer.

And modified one hole on the bellhousing for mounting to the W58

Haha. Even if the adapter 'set' was done I still have to wait on parts.

Need a new clutch pressure plate.
Driveshaft can't be shortened until the trans is in & it has to be swapped to a different yoke/spline.
Distributor is leaking, waiting for a seal kit (on order)
Trans mount (on order)
Shift knob (on order)

Thanks.

Pressure plate is ordered, as well as some MT-90 (said to work really well with this trans).

Might be able to mock up the trans tonight or tommorow & send the d-shaft out.

No love on the mockup, don't have the hardware yet. Going to estimate it by using some trans measurements I've already taken & comparing.

So far it appears that the overall length from where the BH mounts to the end of the tailshaft is:
T50 : 21 3/4"
W58 : 21 5/8" (including spacer)

Might not need to shorten at all, just respline at this point. 1/8" shorter is not going to hurt anything, especially as it only had 1/4-1/2" of unengaged spline for movement as-is (ie, not much spare at all).

Also ordered up speedo drive/driven gears so my speedo will be correct (& working again). Which means I need to remove the extension housing, so it's a good thing it's not in the car. That would be a PITA. Plus being out will make it easy to install a new brass 'BillyM' shifter bushing (see www.celicasupra.com/forums if you want to know what it is/does.).

Yesterday confirmed my overall trans length measurement with my adapter installed and the 1/8" difference remained the same. So no need to shorten/lengthen the driveshaft. Just install a yoke with the correct size spline.

Today test fitted the plate, it looks awesome.

And then spent some time checking the amount of engagement I will get with the clutch disc splines.

Clutch Disc Hub/Spline Measurements:
T50 - 24.1mm ID x 17mm long
W58 - 29.8mm ID x 19mm long

W58 + adapter = 29.8mm ID x 16mm (approx. engagement, which should be more than enough.)

For those visual types...

Slight progress. No pics (loaned my camera out).

Rebuilt the leaking distributor (again!) & reinstalled. Removed EGR for easier bolt access.

Partially dissassembled the trans by pulling the extension housing & swapped to the new speedo gears. Installed the bronze shifter bushing to replace the crappy rubber one (w/4 hours downtime to allow epoxy to set).

I'm hoping that Larry (the machinist) can get my pilot spacer done this week on the lathe. And if Jon has time we'll mock up the trans & make the crossmember this week also. Maybe get a shakedown run in this weekend.

A little more progress. Pilot spacer is done. And I was able to mock everything up on the input shaft. By doing that I found out that I need to add some additional length to the throw out bearing retainer.

More delay thumbsdown.gif but I want it done right.

Surfaced flywheel, different colored spots are due to hot spotting.

Spacer w/bearing installed.

Clutch installed. I took a clearance measurement and it's a little closer than I initially estimated. But I gave myself a little more room so there's plenty IMO.

Finished it up yesterday.

Got the throw-out bearing retainer spacer made, to keep the retainer from catching on the input shaft collar when releasing the pedal (or clutch kicking).

Jon working his magic.

Spacer welded/installed.

Trans partway installed.

Shifter fitment.

No pics, but Jon cut-up a stock RA65 celica crossmember and welded some 90 deg angle iron to the sides to make a crude (but stupid strong) trans crossmember. Maybe one day we'll make a nice one out of flat, but it works just fine for now. You can also see the bronze shifter bushing installed, replaces the stock crappy rubber one.
