I know it's been a long time since I updated this thread but lack of a job holds me back from doing stuff to the car. With that being said I am trying to make it to the August 11th Thunderhill tracck day, really all I need is about $300 and I can go. So at the moment I am trying to pull that out of my ass. Luckily Jonnie bought me some Azenis RT615's for the front of my car since my current Azenis at a lil bald lol. Now I just need Chip to come thru with the trailer and I should be able to go.
Yesterday Andrew and I changed out my transmission to another S14 SR tranny that I bought about a month ago. What a bitch to do with the motor in the car, but we got it done. Today I will button the car back up and then take it for a quick drive around the block. LOL I have to be careful tho cuz I Non-Op'ed the car when I got my S14 running in June.

Well after some sponsoring from Jonnie and my girl I am gonna be able to go to Thunderhill tomorrow. Jonnie and I went to U-Haul today and picked up a trailer, then brought it home to see if my car would actually make it on... and with the help of some ramps I was able to get it on the trailer!
Anyways hopefully I will get some decent footage from the track this time, I can't wait to slide!

Thunderhill was great! I had some problems early in the day but after lunch the car was running good! I was having some issue's with being a bit rusty from not sliding for 6 months and also I have never driven my car in this heat so tire pressure was giving me some understeer problems thru the day that I didn't get a chance to work out.
Anyways it was really great day despite the issue's and kinda surprising there were a lot of people there for a tuesday. I'll post some pics later, and maybe a video if I can get some more footage.

Some pics that I found on this guy's blog http://speedzoku.com...-at-thunderhill ... not bad shots at all!
The pic below is of my tie rod end, the lock nut some how backed off the shank and going into turn 4 where I lost all steering and went way off into the dirt. Luckily I had a replacement bump steer spacer and lock nut set with me otherwise my day would have been done.

Thats crazy, how does it just back off like that? Did SPL provide you with the locking nuts? Or did they fail?

SPL did provide locking nuts with the bump steer kit. For some reason they backed off. When Rob installed the new one he used lock tite to keep it from doing this again.

Yup Jonnie is right, they came with lock nuts... but for some reason it just backed off. I need to email Kuah at SPL and see what he has to say about it.

Ok I made a quick video, it's not super long cuz a lot of footage was not usuable for one reason or another. I decided to make a lil Michael Jackson reference in the video as well.

How Many of those bump steer spaces are you using on the shank?
All of them, there is 3 that they include for a total of 1 inch of bump steer adjustment. I don't have a bump steer gauge so I did what SPL suggested and added spacers til the tie rod end became paralell with the LCA.

Yea i saw your build thread now. I noticed you said 15 ft/pounds, my instructions said to torque those bolts to 30 ft/pounds. I do have a different set though.

Yea I dunno why my instructions from SPL said 15 ft lbs, but that is what I did. I just checked SPL's site today and now their instructions say 40 for the top lock nut and 30 for the bottom. So I will change my wirte up to reflect their new value's.

Well as usual it's been a long time since the last update but with no job this is just the way it has to be.
After a bit of pondering about my current seating position I decided I needed to lower my seat so I can gain some more head room. At the moment my helmet touches the roof when I am in the car so if I ever flipped I would be screwed. Also when I get a cage I will need to be specific distance from the cage for it to be legal. So Jon and I hacked into the floor board and lowered the cat hump in the floor till it was just above my exhaust. After that Jon welded in some new mounts and seat bracket which got me about 6 inches more room than I had before, lol the seat is a just a lil bit low as you will see in the pics below.
To go with the new seating position I decided it was time to get a real seat belt, so I picked up a Corbeau 5 point harness for my seat and a 4 point for the passenger side. At the moment Jon is fabbing a harness bar for the car but this will be temporary until I get the cage put in the car some time down the line.
One last update is I sold my MB wheels to Jesse and then I picked up 6 Drag DR-31 wheels to replace them. At the moment the wheels are with Jason being painted white, but they should be ready for the track day coming up on November 15th.
Jone drilling out the stock seat bracket mount.
Here you can see the mount is gone.
We used the Plasma cutter to make 2 slits in the cat hump and then beat the cat hump down til it was about 1/2 over the test pipe.
Here you can see we drilled out the e brake mount and then moved it over to the right side so I have more room to use the e brake.
With a small amount of cutting and file I was able to use the center console again, but sadly I don't think I can drive with it in the car now since I am so low my elbow now hits the console. So the cutting and filing to make the e brake fit the console was for nothing.
This is the new seat bracket mount Jon made, it's only a lil bit lower than stock lol.
Welding everything back up now that the seat height has been established.
Dry ice to remove the sound deadening so that we can weld reinforcement plates to the floor pan.
Everything welded back up and painted.
LOL yea I have some more head room now I can fit my hand between my head and the roof with room to spare and I am 6'7"
Jon testing out how low the seat really is... um yea I don't think he can see over the dash lol
Corbeau 5 Point for me.
4 point for the passenger side
Here you can see Jon starting to fab the new harness bar, later this will be taken out when we make the cage.
OOOOooOoOOooOOo! Tig welded!

im liking the bar in the rear seat you make that?
No, Jonnie does almost all my fab work for me. He started the bar in that pic, we are still in the process of finishing it.
